HELSINKI, Finland_Estonian soldiers detained five terror suspects in an
operation near Baghdad earlier this week, the military said Thursday.

Four Iraqis and one Sudanese man were captured Tuesday in an ambush set by
Estonian soldiers near the town of Saba al-Boor, north of Baghdad, military
spokeswoman Ingrid Muhling said.

"They belong to a local terrorist group that has kept one village under fear
for a long time now," Muhling said by phone from Baghdad. She said the
Estonians were acting on a tip from residents.

The soldiers seized a machine gun, several automatic rifles and a large
amount of ammunition after a searching an abandoned farm where the men were
hiding, Muhling said.

Estonia has some 40 soldiers, mostly infantry, serving alongside a U.S.
contingent in Baghdad.
