Hi, bullpup_seven. A person unwilling to argue his point is uncommitted to his reason for having point. I wish I could be 16 again.
“War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.” —John Stuart Mill |

I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which in truth, they are. Gen. W.T. Sherman |

No coup, these are my TOEFL students as explained in the FYI thread. This is their "live fire" exercise. Learning to be able to write a opinion/position and then support it, an intellectual "argument" as opposed to the more common usage of argument that implies fighting. They have been reading yours (some more than others) and now are trying to actually do it.
"The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental." - John Steinbeck |
