| Tribunus Laticlavius | Post; ECM and FightersI'm curious, is a sophisticated Eletronic Countermeasures installation in a fighter currently used? Is it a good idea or is it best left to the bigger planes like the C130E?

Many ground to air systems are radar guided. A F16CJ is a SEAD aircraft and is out front chasing ADA systems. He needs to defend himself. A F15E may fly in with a 5000 pound bunker buster behind lines and get lit up with SA6s on the way. F14,15,16,18, EA6, B52, B1; all have ECM capability to some varying degree. Not all have the capabilies of an EF111, but yet most fighters and bombers have ECMs. | |
