Duck and Cover (True Story) info

During basic training with the Royal Artillery (TAVR), an officer 2nd LT (the type who was smaller than his sidearm) was instructing us in protecting ourselves from battlefield nukes!! He was doing okay up to the point when he said "When you see the flash, cover one eye with a hand,to retain sight in that eye" A friend pointed out the obvious..."But Sir woud'nt it be too late, you would be blind after the flash and burned to a crisp an instant later!) I swear to god this is true! He replied "Not if you dig your fire trench (foxhole) deep enough! and then marched off with a smug look on his face. Only in the British Army?

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
