I think that privilege should belong to 03USMC,.... although I'm really eager to see how he breaks it to you.

A Southerner you say,... and a long time Armoured and Cavalry man.... Hmmm,.... Pecans,... I dunno about Pecans, but I can definitely see a connection with peanuts coming up.

Really? I grew up on a Southern farm digging up peanuts and shelling pecans (we had a 100 acre pecan orchard). So I know a fair amount about peanuts and pecans.

I so look forward to you educating me on how harvesting peanuts is an example of why homosexuals should not serve in the military.

Naaah,.... I'm absolutely sure 03USMC has a much more interesting version than mine. It's really his joke anyway. Maybe he'll be the cruel and nasty Marine, and just keep us all hanging out for the punch line. Oooohhh, ... the excitement of it all, (Spike stamps his little feet) I just can't wait.

Those old Marines, they just talk real "Salty", it really gets me quivering all over when they get to explaining about these things.

I wonder when he's gunna be back, I wouldn't want to miss this. Th' damned piker has prolly gone to bed,... or work. They just don't make Marines the way they used to y'know. Now them lazy barstewards actually want to get an hour or two's sleep every night,... but I'm just hoping he's an early riser.

What time is it there Lavite? It cant be long until he gets up surely.

Oh where to begin. Okay. In my time I've run into many former and serving tread heads both Marine and Army some who served in Vietnam , some in Desert Storm some in Iraq. Apircots on armored vehicles and tanks it has been my understanding were prohibited because tankers and trackers are supersitious animals.

Seems tankers and trackers believe that if you have apircots in their vehicles all manner of bad stuff befalls them. Throw a track, lose power, engine or electrical snafu's, gunsite goes down can all be traced to apricots on a tank or track.

My understanding is that this started in Vietnam but some tankers say it's always been that way since Georgie Patton first drove a tank. Anyhow it is my understanding that this was common Armor branch lore and tradition known far and wide in both the Army and the Marines...I only say this because every tanker and tracker I've ever known confirmed it.

Which is why I threatened to "chuck apircots" at you. Ya know you bein a tank guy and all.

"No Apricots Rule"
Amtracker's have not eaten apricots for close to 30 years,
as they are believed to be a jinx and bad luck for LVT's, AAV's & Tanks.

To be honest, I don't think you have any idea of what is thought among the troops about homos in the service, for a "long time Armoured and Cavalry man", and officer to not know the traditions and superstitions of your own branch of the service seems damned peculiar to me.

I'm not vaguely superstitious, yet I am aware of the pretty much all of the superstitions regarding ships, and the Royal Australian Navy in particular. I would have to say that I have my suspicions as to the veracity of your statements regarding your service and definitely regarding your alleged knowledge of the thoughts of those who were serving with and under you.

I think it would be fair to say that your "street cred' regarding these matters has been "shot to sh!t".

marsh;

While you in all your wisdom and experiance my choose to classify the current wars as "minor conflicts" of no great concern and no great threat, I can assure you that the men and women being sent to fight these wars do not share your blaise attitude.

So perhaps maybe, just maybe we should concentrate on training them to survive and not complicating their training with senesativity training and PC BS, for now.

Course if it's so minor and non threatening how bout you ruck the freak up, grab a rifle and walk point in Ramadi or Helmand province for a tour.

And that stunning piece of logic proves what? Do soldiers in Ramadi and Helm have some unique insight on homosexuality that just escaped me all these years?

I know a lesbian MP who could do more push ups with a rucksack on her back than any of ya'll all day long.

State your case, but spare me the macho stuff.

As an alleged retired Major and long time Armoured and Cavalry man, you haven't even got the knowledge of your own branch of the service to know about Tankers and apricots. I'm neither US Army nor a Tanker, but I picked up on it, yet you honestly expect people to believe that you have a unique insight into what the men on the ground are thinking, spare us the BS. You haven't got a damned clue.

As for sparing the BS have a look at your own last post. Nothing more than a poor attempt at a "bait"
