| Tribunus Laticlavius | Post; Did the USSR or Modern Russia Ever Make a BlackbirdThe SR-71 Blackbird -- still the fastest jet aircraft in the world (because "officially" nothing has ever surpassed it). One thing that puzzles me -- why didn't Russia come up with their own version of essentially the same thing? Perhaps the greatest driving force in the USSR's military was making sure that the USA did not have something they could not equal or surpass. So what did they come up with on this score??
