| Milforum Chaplain | Post; Did Ulysses S. Grant say this? The best man for the job does not go after the job. He waits to be called. This is attributed in one text to US Pres. Gen. U. S. Grant. However I can't find proof he ever said this. Does anyone know if he did or if it was said by someone else? Thanks, Padre |

| The fire is everything... ![]() | I've seen it attributed to Grant before myself, but I can't find any evidence at all to when and where (or if) he said it... |

| Legatus Legionis | Yeah he's said to have said that, but I can't find the thereabouts of the quote. It's even here http://theaustralian.news.com.au/sto...5E2702,00.html, (under the pic).

| Milforum Moderator ![]() | Is this close enough Padre? "It is men who wait to be selected, and not those who seek, from whom we may expect the most efficient service. " Ulysses S. Grant, Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant, Chapter 46
