Post; Definition of Small Arms and Light Weapons

There are several different definitions of "Small Arms" and Light Weapons" out there, but I choose to use the one listed in the following UN report:
Page 11, #26:
http://www.smallarmsnet.org/docs/saun13.pdf

Small Arms:
  • revolvers and self loading pistols
  • rifles and carbines
  • assault rifles
  • sub machine guns
  • light machine guns¨
Light Weapons:
  • heavy machine guns
  • hand-held under-barrel and mounted grenade launchers
  • portable anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns
  • recoilless rifles
  • portable launchers of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles
  • mortars of calibres less than 100mm
This part of the forum is for hardware related discussions only, gun control and related discussions should go in the political discussions forum.
