Post; Humvees are worthless in city warfare.

Learn from IDF expirience, If you have to go into a hostile city use tanks and heavy APCs nothing else. You can see those thin armored Humveeas being shot up by RPGs in Iraq. The IDF dosent even use its M113 in city warefare, because they get destroyed by MGs and RPGs. Only M113s with special armour add ups and special APCs like NAGMASHOT- a centurion based extremely heavy APC and ACHZARIT- A super heavy APC based on T55 and T62 tanks. Still when the Iraqis get better with their ambushing they will be able to take out even A1 tanks. The palestinians took out 3 Merkava tanks using 300 pound specialized remote activated charges.

Something just occurred to me. Bullet magnets aren't necessarily a bad thing. I remember a long time ago talking to an old youth pastor that was the logistics guy for one of the battalions/divisions/whatever in the first Iraqi war and although he never saw actual combat he was always free to talk to just about anyone he could. He said they always sent the tanks and humvees in knowing they would attract fire so the infantry would have an easier time doing their job while the enemy is distracted by bigger targets.

Your right, those things are worthless, the Malaysians got a bunch shot up in the Battle of Mogadishu. Tanks are definetly the best way to go in open city areas.

Sounds like the same concept they tried after WWII. How can we successfully drop a Sherman from an airplane? Wow must have been alot of top brass to think about this one.
