| Tribuni Angusticlavii | The EM1 was the first and came out at the end of WW2, and it fired a 7mm bullet. there was a lot of problems around that time in setting up NATO and the need for standardisation in ammunition. Britain was forced to drop the introduction of the EM2 in favour of 7.65 NATO round and had to buy the Belgian FN rifle to fill the gap
