Post; Come back George Orwell.

In my opinion, Britain has the most intrusive, authorative, just do as you are told or else government in the world. This is where demand for change from what we knew, in 1997, has led us. We have an unelected Prime Minister who we cannot get rid of for some time. Election times- be
very careful regarding your wish list.

Once this is rolled out, for how long will it remain voluntary, given this government's record? Will it be compulsory to let the snoopers into your house, something they have been itching to do. They want everyone and everything logged, they already have plans to log every journey of every car in order to charge for every mile driven. Big government ain't good government.

It's truly troubling. I hope that America never goes down this path. I think it was Benjamin Franklin who said "He who would sacrifice essential liberty for temporary safety deserves neither." And I agree.

On the anonymous message boards someone had this to say to England "1984 was a warning, not a template."

I agree. Scary.

The government do not belong in people's bedrooms, nor in other personal information.

Umm what are we complaining about here, it looks like sex questionnaire who's participation is purely voluntary?

How exactly is this Orwellian?

I admit I find it hard to understand why a government department wants the information as I thought they would have better things to spend there money on but I hardly think its "police state" material.

Ummm, Yes.

Well all I can advise is that you read the article carefully and make up your own mind. I can't continually educate folk. It gets tiring.

Enjoy.

I realise that but:

There is a principle called Occam's Razor which says "one should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything" or in other words "the simplest answer is most often the correct one" so in this case you can choose to believe:

1) The British government becoming totalitarian and the people of Britain are are too weak or stupid to do anything about it.

or

2) This is one of hundreds of questionnaires published each year by the various government departments to gather information for whatever reason.

Now I have to say I am great proponent of this principle because oddly enough it works out almost every time so in this case I will go with option 2.
