Post; Checking in

The name is Mike and I am a big fan and student of anything military. Formerly a Gunner Mate's with the USN, I am proud of my country and the many brave men that have fought for it.
Unlike some people though, I make it a point to get both sides of the story. I have spent most of my life reading and studying actual accounts from any source that could be obtained.
I enjoy watching the History and Military channels. Although they don't always give a true account or the complete story behind a given battle or the people that fought in it. All the same, I am glad they are on and help educate the general public.
History is very important and tends to repeat itself. It is for this reason I find it so interesting. I only wish more people understood this so that the world could avoid what is often more useless loss of life.

Mike

Welcome to the forums, Mike

Good to have more Navy folks here. We're short on them.

Just a little clarification, Lord Avon said it was those who "ignore the lessons of history" that are repeated.
