| Nuclear Duck Hunter ![]() | Post; Challenge CoinsOne Military forum I visit every now and then sells a challenge coin with the forum name, a bit pricey and fancy, but I had to have one to add to my collection. A good way to add something to the causes we support.

| The fire is everything... ![]() | What is a "challenge coin"? Is it a coin with the forum name/logo, for collectors? |

| Nuclear Duck Hunter ![]() | "Gunny" on History channel got a question about them and related the above. He then pulled out his History Channel coin and said that if you are in a bar and tap your coin on the bar, the guy who can't show his has to pay for a round of drinks. If everyone has one, the challenger has to pay. They can be struck fancy or just a brass blank with a simple title. There are a lot of medal and coin makers who will make a die set free when you order. The dies belong to them and they keep them on file for future orders. |

| Milforum Moderator ![]() | Yep, that agrees with what I posted. "To make sure that everyone participated, a Challenge Ritual evolved. The challenger would ask a soldier to produce his coin by saying "Coin Check", pulling out his own coin and rapping it on a hard surface. If he couldn't produce his unit coin, the soldier would have to buy a drink for the person who challenged him. If he did have his coin, then the challenger would buy the drink." I have seen this done many times. I do have a few coins of my own. They were presented to me at different times. BTW, happy birthday Missileer! Last edited by DTop; March 17th, 2006 at 14:50. |

| Nuclear Duck Hunter ![]() | "BTW, happy birthday Missileer!" Thanks, I hope the next 61 won't be this hard, but I do have to say it's been some party. I've got a coin from the 56th Arty which moved headquarters btry to Ft Bliss after I mustered out. As far as I know, they're still there. |
