AT OUR NAVY induction physical, we were handed a lengthy questionnaire to fill out. One section listed dozens of diseases, with the notation: "Do you have or have you ever had any of the following?" An especially nervous inductee apparently misunderstood the question and checked off nearly all the disorders. The doctor, a full commander, picked up the young sailor's questionnaire. "Son, you don't need a physical," he bellowed. "You need an autopsy!"
