Calls for Rush Limbaugh to be kicked off AFN info

First off, I despise el Rushbo. I have never liked him. However, the media is 100% two faced when it comes to what Limbaugh said. There have been several liberal men, David Letterman, Ed Shultz, and Bill Maher to name 3, have been guilty of calling women derogatory names. The media outrage for those liberal men were weak in comparison to the reaction Limbaugh leading me to declare a double standard.

I think the calls for him to be removed from AFN is a overreaction. Any other views on this mess?

That a Liberal reproductive rights activist chose to attend a Catholic school is no fluke! A deliberate trap for republicans that Rush stepped in. He was right to call someone a slut who publicly say they're having so much sex they're going bankrupt, but calling her a prostitute was over the line. Liberals often call Conservatives worse & The Media ignores it.

Its not quite the samething.

Letterman and Mahar are comedians. The jokes they tell are to get a cheap laugh and they generally target everyone (gays, women, minorities) which is why its tolerated. What they said is not meant to be serious. They also mainly target celebrities and public officials, not private citizens speaking on serious topics.

Limbaugh is not a comedian, he's a political commentator, hes not even a real journalist. Furthermore Limbaugh is a hater. He hates women, he hates minorities, hates the poor, hates people who disagree with him, hates everyone that isn't like him. He says things to injury people, not to make them laugh or that he gets carried away. The guy has a real chip on his shoulder.

Yes people like Olbermann and Matthews can say things that are alittle off color (and they should get wrist slapped for that), but there isn't the vitrolic hatred that you get from listening to Limbaugh, its like listening to a Adolf Hitler speech in the 1930s.

I think he should be kicked off AFN because of the way he disparages the President of the United States, not because of the latest flap. We all knew Rush is a sexist pig, I think he just doesn't like women at all, he certainly has very little respect for them.

BTW -He opened his fat mouth again recently when he called NASCAR Driver Danica Patrick "that woman driver".

I know nothing about military life, but I would imagine openly criticizing the commander in chief is a big no-no while wearing the uniform. I could certainly expect to be fired from my job if I did that about my boss. So why on earth do we have a person who does that 24/7 on a military network? It makes no sense.

And yes, the same rule would apply to liberal broadcasters as well. I don't think it would be conductive to military moral/discipline to have Olbermann or Matthews blasting a Republican president over AFN either.

I don't know if this is the case anymore (so correct me if I am wrong), but it used to be the case that AFN would only broadcast Rush with no counterbalance from the left.

(Actually come to think of it...I think Ed Schultz is now on AFN).

If soldiers want political junk food let them get it on their own volition there no problem there, but don't forcefeed hateful people like Rush Limbaugh.

Rush really isn't a hater, you guys just hate what he says. If you want to hear hate, try Air America, oops it's belly up.

He may be pompous and boisterous, but he pursues and illustrates issues at far more intellectual depth than the average internet poster.
A good many limit theirs to the depth of an oil slick.
A hater he is not. His command of English is superb.
A woman claiming 1000 annual expenses for contraception which is free at planned parenthood invites certain comments.
Folks who graduate from her program start at $160,000.

Sorry big boy .. B U T !

  • Rush may have a somewhat above average grasp of the English language (many people do) .. however, he is NOT an intellectual.
  • Many of the internet posters that I follow, are very well informed on many issues (some better informed than Rush).
  • As far as an oil slick, most of the time Rush's arguments are at the gutter level .. which is the next best thing to an oik slick
  • As far as being a hater, it is obvious to anyone with an open mind, that Rush hates just about everything (other than himself) .. and, I am not positive that he doesn't also hate himself.
As to your comments about the young lady who was testifying before Congress, her testimony had more to do with women having the right to expect contraceptives to be treated the same as any medicine that you or I receive a prescription for - let's face it, YOU can receive a script for Viagra .. but, under some insurance programs, a woman can not receive one for a contraceptive.

BTW - YOU WERE NO BETTER THAN RUSH WHO ATTACKED A WOMAN AND CALLED HER NAMES - (YOU HINTED THAT SHE DESERVED THE COMMENTS THAT RUSH MADE). THIS FORUM IS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE OPEN AIRWAVES THAT RUSH BROADCASTS ON.

Did you ever listen to Air America? Have you ever listened to Limbaugh?

Criticizing the President, Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, liberals is not a hate speech as long as you don't demonize them.

However Telling a black female caller "to take the bone out of her nose", wishing we could bring back segregation on buses, saying "slavery had its merits", saying "the NFL resembles a battle between the Blood and the Crips" his continual disparaging of women, and my personal favorite..a personal attack on Chelsea Clinton when she was 13 years old.

You really going to tell me hes not a hater? Take off the blinders and stop apologizing for this cockroach.

Of course I don't like what Rush says and it has nothing to do that he's a conservative. There are plenty of media conservatives I respect like David Frum, Ross Dalhout, and Kathleen Parker. I don't agree with them, but they don't float in the cesspool with Limbaugh. BTW, both Parker and Frum LOATH Rush Limbaugh.

I don't like him because hes a mean-spirited, racist, male chauvinist pig who makes money by appealing to peoples basest instincts. That's why I don't like him, that's why MOST people in America don't like him.

CHIEF BONES

I think you right about that. I think the person Limbaugh despises the most is himself.

Air America wasn't on around here, but have heard clips from Liberal Talk via various sources. Have listened to Rush quite a bit over the years. Haven't heard of most of the things you are atributing to him, except comments about Chelsea when her parents used her for making political points. Haven't heard of frum or Dalhout, Ms Parker seems to have moved Left from Conservativism. Most who don't like him are liberals or people who have never listened but have heard the usual comments in the Media. Personaly my favorite is Libertarian Neal Boortz, with Rush & Hannity not too far behind. If you want an example of a boorish talk show host it's Savage.
