Wife Away, Man Sows His Wild Oats
SEPTEMBER 8--While performing a security check early Wednesday at a Santa Barbara park, sheriff's deputies noticed an auto near the locked gates. As seen below, a handwritten note left on the Toyota Sienna indicated that the owner had encountered engine trouble. However, probers noted in a subsequent report, "when a vehicle is parked in that area it usually means the occupant(s) are trespassing" on the property, known as the La Purisima Mission. Turns out that was apparently the case again, according to a sheriff's report detailing events leading to the arrest of Alfred Stevens, a 69-year-old Huntington Beach resident. We'll let you discover what led investigators to charge Stevens with animal cruelty, weapons possession, and trespassing (all of which are misdemeanors). As detailed in an inventory form, deputies seized, among other pieces of evidence, a .357 Magnum, a coffee can filled with feed grain, and a bottle of Bertolli extra virgin olive oil, which, as the property sheet notes, is "rich and fruity." Which seems just about right.
