AFP - US President George W. Bush certified Saudi Arabia as an anti-terrorism ally on Friday, weeks after a top US Treasury official sharply criticized the kingdom's record.

I understand that US needs Saudi support in its endeavours, but I do get puzzled on one point.


Why the Hell should Saudi need aid and funding??!!

They are funding great muslim projects all over, keeping a foot in each camp I believe, and appear to be at the heart of every extreme opinion.


They must be a damn sight more helpful than they appear.

Interesting question - why does Saudi need aid from the US?
When aid is defined as green backs - I agree, it makes no sense.
When aid is defined as military, logistic and intel - the picture becomes clearer.
The Royal family knows that without such aid it would have to turn power over to the mullas and have be subject to either banishment or execution.
