I used a worn out T shirt twisted around my finger and SPIT. KIWI black never let me down. It's not necessarily how you do it, it's how long you do it, spit polish that is.

Absolutely correct Missileer.

"The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental." - John Steinbeck

Hey... everyone's got their own way Personally I didn't have a problem with spending $10 on polish and a cloth when it's lasted 2 years

In the sunlight, hold a dime two feet away from the toe cap of your boot. Can you see the dime's reflection in the shine? If so, that's a good shine. If you can see the date on the dime, that's a spit shine.

I want to know how the gaurds of the tomb of the unknown shine their shoes. I was there two days ago and those are not chloraframs(sp?). They have to do an 8 hour shine on their shoes.
