Well, I guess it says something about how the rest of the world views the guy, regardless of his current standing here.

Seems to have received it for what he is trying to do, rather than what he has acheived. Perhaps, its not the best time to award it as well, as he is increasing the troop numbers in Afghanistan with little prospect of a peaceful settlement.

There were a record 205 nominations for this year's peace prize. Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and Chinese dissident Hu Jia had been among the favourites. Many of these had endured extreme risks for their belief. This is very much a political prize.

Perhaps it's a relative Nobel peace prize, relative to George W Bush.

Looks like it's actually Feb 1, so he'd been in for 10 days. Must have been the promise of peace in our time, wasn't for acomplishment.

If he had any respect he'd bow out but his ego won't allow that. Seems his appeasement and apology stratgey worked however.

I like the guy but he shouldn't have gotten a Nobel Peace Prize at least not yet.
This is an anti-Bush award and the Nobel Peace Prize has become a thing of a bad joke where it's not good work that is rewarded, rather it has become a way some snobs in Sweden give a medal to people who represent their values.
I guess more like a "you should be more like this guy" medal.
Sad thing is, a lot of kids in Korea have their life goal, yes LIFE GOAL as, "to recieve a Nobel Peace Prize." The prize is everything, the work is nothing.
Want a Nobel Peace Prize? Conservative? Never going to happen.

He's donating the money because he can't accept a monetary award while in office. Read the law.

Peace? What freakin peace? I don't see any peace. He's spouted alot of stuff but thats it.

Maybe he oughta donate it to the ACORN legal defense fund.

The peace he's TRYING to promote world-wide... It takes more than a year to quell the fire of thousands of years of hatred. I wish people would give Obama a chance... People supported George Bush till the bitter end... Why can't they let Obama have a fair turn instead of condemning him 9 months into the presidency?


If you'll read the article... It states that he recieved the award for ENGAGING the challenges of today's world... Not fixing everything with the flip of a switch like some conservatives think we were hoping for. But he's DOING something. He's TRYING to make ammends.
