Post; Is this Army strong enough to match up with the US?

These North Korean soldiers look well trained, well groomed (boots, full uniforms, etc), well disciplined. Are they any match against the US troops?

no, because they're trained for a different type of warfare. small, more highly trained units. better tech and more time spent intensively training those smaller units. china has seen the writing on the wall and are changing their force structure

it's all well and good having a massive standing army, but quality has a quantity all of it's own

also, North korea are hardlyy goinig to march grubby line grunts for a military parade such as this are they.

You've asked two different questions:

"Is this Army strong enough to match up with the US?"

and

"Are these soldiers stronger than Iraqi soldiers?"

Which one do you want answered?

I voted no.
1. The NK troops are not stronger than Iraqi troops. Reason Iraqi's are better fed than Nks (heavy sarcasm), the North Korean famine has kept the people hungry and fed the army.
2. NK can never match up to the US. You require money to fight a war, which NK does not have. Iraq had far more funds than NK will ever see, but they still could not match up to the US and coalition forces.

Those soldiers are more capable than Saddam Hussein's Iraqi soldiers and that huge an army of around 1 million appx. is enough to keep the USA engaged for years in case of a war.

This is a ROK guard looking at the North Korean Army as they look back at them. They stand like in that martial arts stance for I don't know how long.

These are two North Korean Army Soldiers who stand watch at the Military Demarcation Line.

This person is what they call a ROK guard. Republic Of Korea (South Korea) Soldier.

To be honest its hard to say on one hand in open combat where combined arms can be used effectively they would last about 5 minutes, on the other hand NK is hardly the sort of terrain where combined arms can work and it is the sort of place that would limit US technological superiority.

Over all I would say that on the offensive they would get mauled and on the defensive they would perform a lot better but no-one ever wins a defensive war.

On top of all this we have no idea what the effects of 50 years of isolationism has done, maybe they have been hardened into an effective fighting unit with an idealogical hatred of the west or maybe they will decide that 3 meals a day in POW camp is preferable to starving in a disease ridden crap hole.
