I can say from experience, it really depends on which part of Europe hates or like the US, it is not country dependent either. In 2001 and 2002, I lived in Copenhagen and spent a good amount of time in Luebeck (Germany) and I did not see much "hatred", a little cynicism, but that can be found in the USA too. It really hasn't changed much from my first civilian expatriate assignment in the UK and Germany, the same attitudes prevailed in 1994 through 1996. So to say generally that certain countries have a problem or are ungrateful is too broad a statement. It really depends on the area of Europe, I would live in Denmark again any day....
\"U.S. Marines are about the most peculiar breed of human beings I have ever known. They treat their service as if it was some kind of cult, plastering their emblem on almost everythng they own, making themselves up to look like insane fanatics...., which I have come to the conclusion they are!\" -- An Anonymous Canadian Citizen |

I'd like to start by pointing out that i've been to London twice in my life, and Berlin once. I absolutely love Europe. I've always wanted to visit Italy but never had a reason to, our family hasn't had the time/money to. Now back to the point. I wasn't treated badly in London (no reason why I should have been), nor was I in Berlin. I have a deep mutual respect toward Europe yet I do sometimes feel as though they're very Ungrateful, we absolutely assured their victory in WWI, saved their ass (Allies) in WWII, provided lend-lease (post WWII/to allies and reconstruction). And to the previous post, I agree with you on the Heiarchy in Europe. It's Germany continental, Britain Overall, Russia second continental, France third...
