And the only armed militia we have here now is the criminal fraternity, from 10 years old. Openly gunning each other down, together with innocents!

Funny video BritinAfrica. I enjoyed it. What I'm against is the "big guns" as the expression goes... I'm all for concealed carry. I'd love it if our general population started concealed carrying more. I'd wager that concealed carry would be the most effective way to lower individual crime. All those murders, rapes, and assaults are not being prevented by big rifles and the like... They're being prevented by .38 specials. Little cricket guns that pack enough punch to keep an attacker at bay.

All of those fantastic gun quotes that pro-gun advocates love to use have one thing in common... Almost all of them were said by someone in the late 18th century... Nearly 200 years ago. The fact of the matter is times have changed. No longer do people need muskets and bayonets to keep a TRULY oppressive government at bay. I can assure you, if the government wanted to take over... All they'd need is a few task forces and two men with keys to a silo.

Henderson, were you aware that the vast majority of crimes involving firearms in this country are committed with handguns? 9mm, .45, and criminals really love those little snub-nose .38s. What they want are concealable and disposable weapons, small and cheap. Wheelguns and pump-actions are favored because they don't leave any shells behind unless you reload, or cycle the action in the case of pump guns. Banning rifles won't help, in fact neither will banning handguns. Only the stupidest of the fools who commit crimes of passion will even use registered firearms. You see how much trouble they are having keeping immigrants out of America? It's that easy to smuggle guns into this country, and that's just one way of doing it. They caught some guy with a military-issue G36 about four or five years back in NYC, who even knows how that happened. Now, if the BATF knocked on my head at 3:30 AM I'd certainly surrender my rifles. There's no way I'm going to die over $220, maybe if I had more expensive guns it'd be worth taking a stand. I'm horribly conflicted over this; I'd have no chance of winning in a fight, and I'm not keen to throw away my life, but rights aren't rights unless you're willing to fight for them. I guess I just have too much faith in my neighbors, because I'd feel a lot safer seeing folks open carrying about town than seeing one cop car sitting there occasionally. I admit I'd have the opposite reaction if I were in the city, I lived down there for 5 years. Police can not protect you, but they can avenge you and deter more crimes.

I have "several" weapons around here, I have never used one against another human being in anything but defense of myself and my property (except in the military) And as an American, I can honestly say they can have every one of my guns I'll leave them to the govt in my will. btw: not a single weapon of mine is automatic, I'm retired, I hunt deer now, not people

Thank you all for your input. My question has been answered. It seems that most of you just can not believe that their rights will be taken from them.I HOPE THIS IS SO. If it were to happen the majority of you would have to just bite the bullet (sorry about pun) and hand them over. Its easy to say 'from my cold dead hands' but when it comes to it and a law is passed you have to obey no matter how wrong that law is. Some may not register, hide weapons or protest but when the time comes only a minority will be prepared to fire upon police officers. The day that all firearms are only in the hands of police and military in the rest of the world is not far off.For the United States it is a long way away but slowly you are losing your rights just as we lost ours. GOOD LUCK!-you're going to need it

I highly doubt there will ever be a point in which ALL guns are in the hands of the police and military.
