I composed this shortly after 9/11/01 and sent it to a couple of news papers. I was surprised when I picked one of them up and read it in there.

AMERICAN M.A.S.S.es

This goes out to those responsible for the dastardly
Attacks perpetrated on the 11th of September 2001. I
Will tell you my name when I am finished voicing my
Views of the afore mentioned events.


I have been around for 227 years.
I have fought side by side with men at Valley Forge,
Yorktown, and Bull Run.
I have sailed the seas with John Paul Jones, Farragut,
Nimitz and Halsey.
I have hugged the dirt of remote places to defend
Democracy with men like Chesty Puller.
I have charged the enemy guns and defenses with men
Like U.S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Sherman and Patton.
I have flown with men like Rickenbacker, Boynton,
McConnell and Jimmy Doolittle.
I have been sent to places that most would have never
gone to.
Why, to show the people of that country that I care
About them.
I have been ridiculed in my own nation, but I am still
loyal to her
And those that ridiculed me.
I have been invited to far away lands to liberate
countries that were invaded
By greedy despots.
Why, because they know I care for them.
I have been ask to remain in lands different from my
own because the leaders know I care.
I have been attacked throughout the world.
Why, because I’m different from you.
I have been ridiculed throughout the world.
Why, because I help people less fortunate than myself.
I have been praised through the streets of Havana,
London, Kuwait City and Paris.
Why because I gave my life to liberate them.
I have seen atrocities that would make any normal
person sick to their stomach.
I have seen dictators brainwash the people of their
country into committing genocide.
I have bled on every shore and in every corner of this
world.
I have died in the defense of freedom in places that
you cannot find on a map.
I am many different cultures, nationalities and
Religions.
Who am I?

Thanks folks. It came from the heart. I even posted it on the Pakistani news site and received a lot of death threats for that. However, I am still here and they are not. Must tell you sumpin bout them, huh.
