| Tribuni Angusticlavii | Post; I Already Know How I'm Voting Next YearThis is all very simple to me. When I vote I care pretty much only about the things that are directly affecting me such as Terrorism, National Security and such. Not amorphous ideas like stem cell research, gay rights/not-rights, abortion, etc. So when I see my government spending 6 months arguing about court apointments and my gas is about to cost $3 a gallon I come up with my own personal solution. It's all very simple, when I got to the ballot box I'm going to see which person is the incumbent. Then I vote for the person who isn't currently in office so maybe if everyone old is kicked out the new guys might get something done about my G*** Damned gas prices! I encourage everyone to follow my plan of action. |

| Milites Gregarius | Yeah, Good idea, vote for Kerry, Hilary, or [whoever]. After they take away your 2nd Amendment rights, your first Amendments rights by making "hate crime laws" (that probably don't apply to PROTECTING YOU), and make our nation socialist instead of individually driven you'll maybe learn. GAS prices are a market effect on other nations growing and needing energy. The market REACTION is alternative energy sources. That takes time. The court appointment thing is an application of duplicitous standards by Liberals. Ruth Bader Ginsberg (?sp) REFUSED to answer questions (which Liberals applauded her for her refusing a litmus test) and now the current nominee is taking her tack, but geeee, those same liberals don't want a CONSERVATIVE to have the same option. No, see, Liberals knew they couldn't get their agendas through legislation, and that's why they wanted activist judges to legislate from the bench, to repeal laws voters got onto ballots through petition drives (ya know, democracy in action), and make up, from whole cloth new "laws" that only applied in "certain situations" (PCism). Learn about politics before opening the pie hole mounted in your grape. Steven

| Tribunus Laticlavius | Well I am going to be supporting the Democrats not because I love them, but for these two reasons. 1. I am against one party rule in general, but espically because we have extremist radicals (I won't call them conservative any more, because that about the last thing they are). Our constitution was designed for Checks and Balances, that is missing. 2. I think the fragile state of our economy is far more dangerous to this nation than anything al-Qaida could think up. All this current bunch can say is "tax-cut". Its time for serious (and yes painful) decisions to be made. The left has always been better on economic matters than the right. |

| Tribuni Angusticlavii | The presidental election isn't until 08 you know. 06 is just mid-terms where I get to toss out all the lazy congressmen who care more about partisan High-School drama than my G*** D*** gas prices! |

| Primus Pilus | No kiddin. I drive a Grand Cherokee, so as far as gas goes, I am now looking for a second job to go with full-time student and DJ. Elections: I dunno. It seems like every large scale politician is really only concerned with reelection. They dont really give a hoot about how you feel, what you care for or what. They will say anything they can just to get your vote. Term Limits is a great book that deals with this topic.

And I've heard some people say "well there isn't anything they can do" Really? That what you really think? Because our ENTIRE foreign policy revolves around oil. Our ENTIRE foreign policy revoles around oil. You fail there and you've essentially just squandered all the billions the state department spends. I know I'm being a tad dramatic to prove a point, but my point still stands. My safety is #1 and my pocketbook is #2. I feel safe so long as Bush as CiC so guess how I'm voting come mid-terms.

This kind of say one thing and do another is the very thing I am talking about. And I dont think it is isolated on one side or the other, all are equally guilty. What are you talking about as far as foreign policy? Yeah, our foreign policy dictates how we deal with other nations; diplomaticly, militarily, and economically. But it is not like there are really any changes that can be made. (If there were, wouldnt they have been made already??) Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean, but I dont think there really is anything that can be done as far as foreign stuff. (Save for conserving, and working to restore refineries, etc.) I agree, I do feel safer with Bush as CiC. Whose gonna be on the ballot next election? Hopefully, one much like him.

| Milites Gregarius | There isn't much that CAN be doen about gas prices. Allow me to explain? Our refineries are already working at 98% capacity (the most they can w/safety guidelines) and the Dems have VETOED every energy bill G.W. has sent to the Congress. We have no more refining capacity, AND if we import GASOLINE, HOO-BABY are the prices gonna shoot up. Alternative fuels? Like hydrogen plants (or cars)? Nope, net LOSS in energy. See, the plants require the separation of the hydrogen from the oxygen in H2O/water, and that uses MORE electricity than it gains you. Tidal, Solar, Nuclear, and Wind should be instituted to the max. But gasoline is only like 40% of the use we use crude oil for. And more coal plants isn't a great option (not to mention economical - the new plants burn very clean but are EXPENSIVE - and coal is limited too). Hope that helped. Steven |
