A suicide attacker’s car exploded close to a joint NATO-Afghan convoy in eastern Paktia Province, killing an Afghan soldier and a civilian and wounding a NATO soldier. In neighboring Paktika Province an hour later, a man dressed in a burqa blew himself up and wounded two Afghan soldiers and a civilian. Muhammad Akram Khapalwak, the governor, said the man was a Pakistani.
