Long story short,

dropped out of school, did part time work, want to join the army as a rifleman, but my grades are stuffed up. (due to bad habits, slacking off etc)

I hear theres some sort of TAFE course I can do to make up for this, but when I check the site online, im just confused by it all.

Defence force site tells me the educational req is that of year 9 math and english for rifleman, so I assume if I did a higher course of english and math at TAFE it would be good enough?

if i was you, i would call 131901 and talk to a recruiter
not to sure on grades for a rifleman, but when i was in, i always thought it was year 10 english and maths, i could be wrong though.

Yeah it's been dropped to year 9. You've got to call a recruiter for that kind of info. It's not the kind of thing in service soldiers know, unless they work in recruiting. Give them a ring on 131901 and have a chat. Good luck.
