| Hmm, well according to your link, Prince Phillip would seem to be the exception to your observation of only "some stupid person trying to invade". I also believe there are at least one or two Field Marshal's still living retired. I seem to recall watching a show about the Falklands conflict in which one of the British officers interviewed was a Field Marshal.
I'd still like to hear from somebody from the UK or Commonwealth who's actually served in the armed forces.
