A special officer at the Finnish Defence Forces Materiel Command (DFMC) was convicted Friday of the use of child pornography on an army computer in Helsinki. The court of law sentenced the man to punitive fines of 1,120 euros for possession of child pornography, military offense and unauthorised use of an army computer.
The man committed the crimes between September 2003 and February 2004 in the town of Tampere. He has hence retired.
The Police found more than 160 images of child pornography on disks in the possession of the former officer. According to the court of appeals, the officer scanned the Internet for smut with an Internet connection and computer paid for by the Finnish Defence Forces.
