But the french newspaper called la Stampa, is saying that a US sub called mephis shot a torpedo at the russian sub called Kursk. The point of Kursk's journey was that the russians wanted to show there new torpedo called Chkwal that can "swim" up to 500 km per hour to chines.

But the major point was that on those training it was chines inspectors that wanted to see the russian torpedo.It saying that the americans were worried about that the China will see that effect of the torpedo.

And two american submarines were spying on the exerise, one the them launched the torpedo МК48.

Mephis was damage two because it crashed with the other submarine, and the photo of it was taken in a norwegian port.
