They might have the same strategic as Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has with their Leo 2A5+ where the armor is sloped in two ways instead of what GE has done with M1A1+ which is only sloped in one direction. And the shape on the Leo 2A5+ is not a shot-trap. A round won't be directed down into the tank hull, it looks as if it would but it wont because of the design
