I think the calls for him to be removed from AFN is a overreaction. Any other views on this mess?

Its not quite the samething.

Letterman and Mahar are comedians. The jokes they tell are to get a cheap laugh and they generally target everyone (gays, women, minorities) which is why its tolerated. What they said is not meant to be serious. They also mainly target celebrities and public officials, not private citizens speaking on serious topics.

Limbaugh is not a comedian, he's a political commentator, hes not even a real journalist. Furthermore Limbaugh is a hater. He hates women, he hates minorities, hates the poor, hates people who disagree with him, hates everyone that isn't like him. He says things to injury people, not to make them laugh or that he gets carried away. The guy has a real chip on his shoulder.

Yes people like Olbermann and Matthews can say things that are alittle off color (and they should get wrist slapped for that), but there isn't the vitrolic hatred that you get from listening to Limbaugh, its like listening to a Adolf Hitler speech in the 1930s.

I think he should be kicked off AFN because of the way he disparages the President of the United States, not because of the latest flap. We all knew Rush is a sexist pig, I think he just doesn't like women at all, he certainly has very little respect for them.

BTW -He opened his fat mouth again recently when he called NASCAR Driver Danica Patrick "that woman driver".

I know nothing about military life, but I would imagine openly criticizing the commander in chief is a big no-no while wearing the uniform. I could certainly expect to be fired from my job if I did that about my boss. So why on earth do we have a person who does that 24/7 on a military network? It makes no sense.

And yes, the same rule would apply to liberal broadcasters as well. I don't think it would be conductive to military moral/discipline to have Olbermann or Matthews blasting a Republican president over AFN either.

I don't know if this is the case anymore (so correct me if I am wrong), but it used to be the case that AFN would only broadcast Rush with no counterbalance from the left.

(Actually come to think of it...I think Ed Schultz is now on AFN).

If soldiers want political junk food let them get it on their own volition there no problem there, but don't forcefeed hateful people like Rush Limbaugh.
