well...its funny but it does have some relavence. The aviation corp of cadets are instructed to literally salute everything that moves on the base...some are instructed to do so as to make them the butt of a joke...and some do it because they aint really sure it is a joke...its a navy thing.
and yes...during a 1976 field trip to pennsecola with our NJROTC group...we actually got saluted by a few of these corp personnel...
