I think know the concept goes back to the Ranger Creed, written in 1974 by Commadn Sergent Major Genrty, but it probobly goes back farther. Heres the Ranger Creed, Hope I could be of Help!

Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission, though I be the lone survivor.
