I can see the Snipers wanting to hang on to their bolt guns. It's a stable tested and accurate platform. IMO a bolt gun is inherently more stable than a gas operated semi auto for that type of work.
I believe that the British Royal Marines adopted a Sniper System in .338 Lapua recently maybe somebody from the UK knows.
