I'm calling b******t on this one. I support our American friends, but this is bollocks. The language isn't right, the mentions of what SECDET do aren't right etc etc. I don't know a single Australian soldier who actually would bother to refer to the F89 as either a Minimi, let alone put SAW in brackets, or act coy about calling Americans "Yanks". If thats the worst he calls them then they are lucky.

Some other bits aren't right, it just smacks of an attitude that is distinctly un-Australian. There is 100% too much praise here. The Australian way is not blow anybodies horn, let alone American horn. There is no sarcasm, slang, Australianisms, nothing to suggest it is written by an Aussie digger.

Finally, I can't imagine any Aussie soldier seriously writing praise like this for the US. We acknowledge that the US has far larger resources than Australia, but ask any Aussie soldier who he thinks the more professional soldier is and he'll point to his mates 100% of the time. Pride for Australia and the idea of Australian superiority is far too ingrained in our national identity.
