It may not go anywhere, but I'll bet there are people other than the soldier who will regret this being bought to public attention, especially when it infringes on a man's rights as defined in the Constitution. I don't think that you'll find that signing on the dotted line removes his Constitutional rights.
I think it will come down to how hard he is willing to fight the case, as there will be lawyers just lining up to represent him.
