| Taiwan is a "nation" that is divided of course. There is the Chinese population (many of whom came with Chaing Kaishek) and there is the native population. The two groups are almost exactly equal in size to my understanding, but the Chinese half has controlled the destiny of the island since Chaing got there. But yes, the portion of them that is Chinese probably has done a better job of maintaining many of the Chinese traditions. On the other hand, mainland China looks at them as being too Western. Seems kindof silly since Communism is a very Western idea anyway. The biggest problem about Taiwan ... there's so much controversy that we cannot rationally discuss much of anything about it in this forum.
