| My understanding of 'punishment' during basic training (and correct me if I am wrong here as this is what I have been told, not my own experience) is not just to discipline the recruits but also to have them learn from their mistakes. For example, if they are too slow on a ran make them run further and faster so that they bodies are in better shape and that they are better motivated to complete the run on time. That type of punishment I can understand. But some of this this just sounds cruel, be forced to slide on your own vomit what possible lesson can be learn from that?

I get this question a lot. I am from NYC. I fly a French flag because I work for the Paris Office of a International company.
