General Dynamics and BAE Systems, the largest makers of armored vehicles for the military, want the Pentagon to order more blast-resistant trucks by December to avoid production shutdowns. The Mine-Resistant, Ambush-Protected vehicle program is the Iraq war's fastest-growing procurement effort. The companies need lead time to order armor steel and other parts.
