Oddly enough if you do a google on Mrs Trooprally she appears a few times at various pro-war meetings so I would suggest that it is a pen name rather than a fictional character.
But I agree there seems to be a remarkable level of silence from the authorities and veterans groups who you would expect to be up in arms (rightly so) on this one, enough to make me suspect that it isn't genuine.
