Oh Man! have you hit a sore point with the Brit Army. What you have highlighted not only affects U.S forces but also the British Army. During my service period in the 80's we used Land Rovers to get around (Air Defence) we needed light vehicles for speed and carrying ability, however in theatres of operations such as Iraq, the British Army is still patroling in Land Rovers, which have no more protection (if less) than the average family car. At the moment the UK press is pressuring Tony Blair for more Warrior armoured vehicles. It would seem, friend, as history for us Brits is always repeating, highly trained, totaly loyal and commited, but pathetically under armed and equipped. At least the U.S has the money to spend, so damn well make sure your government spends IT!!!
