Used to be against the Law to poll the United States Military.
President Bush's Secretary of Defense had a DoD directive first pulled altogether before the 2004 cycle, so as to allow the polling of United States Military Personnel directly about who they would like to see win in a Federal Election, and then retooled and put back after the Election was over, so as to still have wiggle room.
Now it's all coming back to bite them in the

, as it seems most of the US Military is turning Anti-Bush, and they are not afriad to talk about it.
