| From a historical point of view it's unrealistic for the USA to remain together indefinitely. I like to compare this country to the roman empire which expanded throughout the mediterranean and then consolidated its rule by assimilated the provinces into the roman fold. That worked for centuries in most places, but it eventually fell apart and now look at all the countries in europe and elsewhere that were once part of the Roman empire.
America might befall that same fate one day since its a very large land and there are so many regional cultures and governments that forming separate countries in some areas isn't that far fetched. California, Texas, Utah, New Engladn, Hawaii, Louisiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, and the mid west all are are regions with the qualifications to become separate countries. I'm not sure what would lead to that, but it's certainly far off and not imminent like some commentators describe(mexifornia?)
But the roman empire fell from within because of a disintegrating government which i don't see happening in this country for the most part. The empire also felt pressure from the barbarians invading it, but i'd hardly consider the illegal immigration issue a barbarian invasion, just a slow migration of destitutes. I think it will work out, i just hope a good plan for the future is adpoted.
