There's a lot of negative commentary on MacArthur's conduct in the Pacific. Especially what happened on Corrigedor (and his acceptance of the Medal of Honor) as well as his "show-off" attitude.

I think Nimitz was an outstanding naval strategic commander, as was his adversary, Yamamoto, the planner of the Pearl Harbor attack (although he was rather wrong on Midway).
