In 1999 (I think, dates are getting fuzzy as I get older) a good friend of mine, Indianapolis police officer, accepted a position to go be a peace keeper for 12 months for a fat chunk of tax free change. He returned after three months and said it was pointless trying to be a cop when none of the parties there were the least bit interested in peace.
