Whenever I train with Fed or Local LE agencies, we always exchange tee-shirts, they generally have the department/agency logo and "police" "SWAT" etc on them. Mostly I wear them to the gym and to work around the house just as general tee-shirts, but it isn't illegal for me to wear them. Now, if I were to put on a FBI shirt and tried to impersonate an agent (ie, claiming to be one), that's illegal. I don't if this account is true or not, I can't find anything on Snopes.com to confirm or deny it yet, but I hope it is. It's very ingenious. INS is ICE now, anyway.
