| I think the reason why a fair number of conspiracy people think the war in iraq was about oil was because there was little other reason to invade iraq. True theres no piece of paper that says "Lets invade iraq for oil" but when u sit back and have a wee think about it, what did the american administration have to gain from invading iraq?
Saddam was a threat and had WMD ready to blow up the west?
Load of bollocks! There was little if not no threat and the american intelligence knew that.Iran and north korea were and still are much more threatining.
Invade for peace and democracy?
Spreading democracy and freedom is all very nice but if that was the primary reason then the administration should be invading a lot more countries right now.
Al-qaeda?
Bin Laden and sadam were not the best of friends (Unlike Rummy and sadam ain the eighties) besides, he was still thought to be in afghanistan/pakistan
Whats left in the equation? Oil and a bigger and better base of operations in the middle east. Its true that if the middle east didn't have oil, quite frankly the West would treat the region just like africa.
To be honest though, securing the economic interests of your country is understandable but when the administartion puts peoples lives on the line for poor excuses then questions do have to be asked.
I'l fully support the US troops in iraq and afghanistan, they're doing their jobs and doing them bloody well. I just hate how the adminstration have used them this way, America deserves more than a bunch of greedy tits whose diversion into iraq in the "war on terror" is on the way to causing more deaths - civilian and military then were produced on 9/11. Its not right, Bush and his pals are failing America and the rest of the world.
It is pretty obvious that oil is a big factor here people and i'm definitely no hippy or conspicracy theory junkie |
