This wikipipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaff_%...ntermeasure%29
mentions "The radar guided master searchlights wandered aimlessly across the sky." Where these searchlight directly connected to the radar and would they automatically lock on to radar "blips" or would the guy who controlled them look at a radar screen and move the searchlights accordingly?
It gets more interesting later on: "The use of Window rendered the ground-controlled 'Himmelbett' fighters of the Kammhuber Line
redundant overnight but the Germans responded quickly, using non-radar equipped free-ranging 'Wild Boar' day fighters to attack visually"
Does this mean Germany had fighters with onboard radars? Or did the ground-based radars broadcast their signals by radio and the fighters received them on an appropriate radar screen?
