Dammit. We can't fight a war like this. It's not our guy's faults if the enemy turns their civies into potential threats. I read the book Shooter, and in it the author talked a LOT about the issues with the Iraqi war tactics. The soldiers throw down their guns and blend into the civies, only to pick up another gun and attempt to kill our troops. That turns the Iraqi population into potential killers. At that opint, it's not our guy's fault if they are a little jumpy around the civilians. Not saying it's right, under any circumstances, but they deserve some slack for the conditions they are in.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
