I have to agree with Wellington.

I would also add:

R.E. Lee - He was brilliant and audacious - he just didn't have enough resources to carry out his plans.
Stonewall Jackson - Lee's strong right arm - with the exception of the peninsula he was an incredible General

And I have to agree about Forrest - he was an absolute racist so-and-so, but he was arguably the best Cavalry General in US history.
